Microplastics make mosquitoes even more dangerous

The mosquito larvae ingest these particles that enter the food chain through bats and birds

According to data shared by the Europe Press agency, a study from Reading University in England has shown that the larvae from mosquitoes and other flying insects which lay their eggs on water, ingest tiny plastic particles which they are not able to eject during their metamorphosis.

These particles called microplastic get to the food chain through bats and birds. The issue with these particles, is that multiple associations have warned of its possible link to the development of cardiovascular illnesses, cancer, Alzheimer, infertility and problems with fetus development. Not to mention the pollutants that could be adhered.

Health scientists keep investigating this dynamic and its possible consequences. Although, there are no signs that the bites can lead to this kind of infections, this is an even bigger reason to protect yourself and those you love from mosquitoes on your day to day.
